What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisory Supply Management Specialist position at VA Oklahoma City Health Care System?
This position, located at the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System, Supply Chain Management Service, is assigned as the Assistant Chief Supply Chain Officer and serves as a senior logistics management expert for the VA HCS, an extremely large and complex medical facility that includes multiple hospitals, numerous community based outpatient clinics (CBOCs) and other health care activities.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS-13 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-12 level. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-12 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to...responsible for ensuring the logistical requirements of an organization are met; planning/coordinating and evaluating various operations to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of a logistics program. Areas of knowledge and skill should include acquisition management, purchasing, transportation, distribution, inventory management and control, expendable and non-expendable equipment, and warehouse operations; experience assisting with budget formulation and forecasting of expenditures. At this level, candidates should possess experience in overseeing and managing a group with a variety of occupations and subordinate supervisors..
Preferred Experience: Minimum of 4 years of logistics supervisory experience in NX, EX, or Acquisition within the Department of Veterans Affairs

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary; however, the position is required to participate on environment of care rounds, Internal and External Quality Reviews, and external auditor site visits. These reviews include a review of work areas including warehouse, supply areas that require personal protective equipment such as operating room and lab, and equipment disposition areas that involve removal of hazardous waste. This may require long periods of standing, walking, and/or maneuvering around moving or otherwise hazardous equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and cart washers. Work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. May require occasional travel.
