Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team specializing in diabetes care. Duties
- Know how to calculate insulin dosages
- Prior Authorization experience
- Knowledge of CGM preferred
- Bring patients to the room for their appointment
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates with precision and care
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort throughout their visit
- Operate Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems efficiently to document patient encounters accurately and maintain detailed medical records
- Assist with diagnostic procedures including EKGs and basic physiology assessments when required
- Manage medical supplies inventory, restock exam rooms, and ensure all equipment is sterilized and functioning properly
- Provide exceptional patient service by addressing questions or concerns promptly and empathetically
- Send referrals to Specialists for future visits
- Send prescription refills to pharmacies and call to ensure they were received.
- Contact patients to update them on results and to give them pertinent information.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology applicable across various specialties such as internal medicine, medical-surgical units, emergency medicine, geriatrics, and hospital medicine
- Proven experience working in outpatient clinics demonstrating adaptability across diverse clinical scenarios
- Familiarity with EHR systems for accurate documentation and efficient workflow management
- Ability to perform intake assessments effectively while demonstrating excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach
- Competence in vital signs measurement, medication administration protocols, and basic EKG operation when applicable
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with healthcare professionals across specialties like internal medicine teams, or trauma units
