Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement is
responsible for supporting efforts to strengthen and sustain lifelong
relationships between the University and its alumni. Reporting to the Associate
Director for External Affairs, this position contributes to the planning and
execution of strategic alumni engagement initiatives, including alumni
experiences, volunteer leadership development, and programming for students and
young alumni. The role also supports the promotion and preservation of pride,
traditions, and reinforcing alumni connection and institutional loyalty.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and execute alumni events and programs
that foster connection, pride, and engagement with Southern Miss, both on
campus and in the community.
- Track participation and engagement outcomes in Salesforce CRM and contribute to continuous improvement of alumni programs.
- Recruit, train, support, and steward alumni volunteers and leaders in alignment with Southern Miss priorities, traditions, and initiatives.
- Collaborate with regional Hubs and campus partners to ensure engagement efforts support the university’s mission and goals.
- Develop programs for recent graduates to encourage early involvement, networking, and long-term affinity with the university.
- Manage, develop, and grow programs such as the Student Alumni Association, Alumni Ambassadors, and the GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) Council.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
