Job Summary
Under the supervision of the WCUCOM Director of Operations, the Communications and Alumni Coordinator will perform, coordinate, and aid in the communication, marketing, and alumni activities of WCUCOM, as well as other special projects as assigned. This position is responsible for assisting WCUCOM with Alumni tracking and relationship building through communications, events, and programming, helping to further lifelong relationships with alumni.

- Assist WCUCOM and WCU in the implementation of their respective Mission Statements, Statement(s) of Purpose, Institutional Plan(s), and Financial Plan(s)
- Assist with developing a variety of alumni programs designed to engage WCUCOM’s growing alumni network including maintenance of social media platforms for graduates;
- Maintain WCUCOM’s alumni database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date contact and residency information including longitudinal tracking WCUCOM graduates through residency and into professional practice
- Coordinate marketing and public relations for WCUCOM;
- Serve as a liaison and point of contact between WCUCOM and alumni and coordinate all communications;
- Plan, coordinate, attend, and assist in a wide range of events (both in-person and virtual) for alumni and current students, including networking and professional events, social events and reunions, cultivation dinners, career development opportunities, and other special events;
- Create content and messaging for WCUCOM social media channels;
- Create graphics and videos for WCUCOM within the branding guidelines of the University;
- Assist with WCUCOM website maintenance
- Represent WCUCOM at local, state, and national conferences and meetings;
- Assist with ordering and tracking of promotional materials;
- Supply information as needed for annual AACOM, COCA, and other relevant reports as requested
- Collaborate with WCU’s Alumni Relations Office to promote events of relevance to WCUCOM alumni
- Work with student workers, when appropriate, to complete office work;
- Present data and program information as requested;
- Plan and coordinate yearly alumni dinner at OMED conference;
- Attend University events when staff participation is expected;
- Serve on WCU and WCUCOM committees as assigned;
- Ability to work required hours in a punctual manner
- Perform all other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in a related field;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and database management;
- Experience with photo and video creation and editing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to solve problems effectively;
- Ability to work as a team player.
- Must have valid drivers license and clear driving history
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or Business Administration
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud software, including Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, and Illustrator
- Three (3 ) years in a professional marketing, communications or social media position;
- Previous experience in an institution of higher learning or graduate medical education setting;
Physical Demands
- Must possess the mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer, copier, and printer;
- Must have the ability to travel both locally and out of state for related conference(s)
- Must be able to both drive and travel for work related functions
- Must have vision to read printed materials on a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone;
- Must be able to maintain office hours and perform duties in an on-campus setting.
