Childcare Educator

Job Overview
The Childcare Educator at USDR Specialty School plays a critical role in supporting the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development of children in a structured, nurturing, and therapeutic learning environment. Guided by evidence-based practices and a whole-child approach, the Childcare Educator works collaboratively with teachers, Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), therapists, and families to deliver high-quality care and instruction tailored to each child’s individual needs.

This position is ideal for educators who are passionate about inclusive education, early childhood development, and supporting children with developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder, or behavioral challenges.

Duties

Instructional & Classroom Support

• Support the implementation of individualized educational and behavioral plans under the direction of the Lead Teacher and clinical team
• Assist with classroom instruction, small-group activities, and one-on-one learning opportunities
• Reinforce positive behaviors using developmentally appropriate and evidence-based strategies, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles when applicable
• Maintain a structured, safe, and engaging learning environment that promotes independence and confidence

Child Development & Care

• Provide attentive supervision and care to ensure students’ physical safety, emotional well-being, and dignity at all times
• Support daily routines including transitions, meals, toileting, rest periods, and hygiene in accordance with school policies
• Observe and document student progress, behaviors, and developmental milestones as required

Collaboration & Communication

• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members including teachers, BCBAs, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and administrators
• Communicate professionally and respectfully with families, sharing observations and reinforcing consistency between school and home
• Participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development activities

Compliance & Professional Standards

• Follow all USDR Specialty School policies, state childcare regulations, and ethical standards
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and sensitive information
• Complete required documentation accurately and timely
• Assist with classroom instruction, small-group activities, and one-on-one learning opportunities

• Maintain a structured, safe, and engaging learning environment that promotes independence and confidence

Skills

• Bachelor's degree preferred; High School Diploma required. Experience working with children in daycare, preschool, or similar settings.
• Knowledge of childhood development principles and age-specific caregiving techniques.
• Certification in First Aid and CPR is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with special education practices and working with children with disabilities.
• Strong classroom management skills to create an organized learning environment.
• Ability to engage children through nurturing caregiving, teaching, and play-based activities.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and families.
• Experience with behavior management strategies to support positive social interactions.

Pay: $10.00 - $15.50 per hour
