Overview
Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Sr Vice President Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer oversees and provides strategic direction, planning, and leadership for inpatient, emergency and surgical nursing operations, advance practice professionals, rehab services, patient care services education and research, social work, care coordination and patient experience at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. Implements initiatives to develop, enhance and optimize patient care and nursing services in the assigned areas.Participates in the formulation of initiatives to address the developing needs of the community, recruiting, retaining and optimizing a world-class nursing and patient care workforce, responding to the changing trends in healthcare, and advancing the organizations mission, goals, and vision. Provides guidance to ensure that assigned areas of responsibilities provides the highest quality, most cost-effective healthcare possible, and that operations are in compliance with the accrediting bodys guidelines as well as federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: Minimum of eight (8) years of general management experience in patient care and nursing services, understanding of Magnet principles and standards. The incumbent should also possess strong experience and knowledge in strategic planning, MediCaid-insured populations, and community relations. Education/Licensure/Certification: Master's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare or Business strongly preferred. If Masters is not in Nursing, then either a baccalaureate or doctoral degree must be in nursing. Experience in a free-standing Childrens hospital or academic medical center preferred.
