The Medical Assistant 2 provides essential support and administrative services to the office, the doctors, and the patients in a fast-paced doctor’s office. This role is primarily focused on front desk receptionist responsibilities, with clinical support provided on an as-needed basis. The schedule is Monday, Thursday, and Friday, with additional days as needed.
Medical Assistant 2 Essential Functions/Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

Greet patients, answer incoming calls, and assist with questions

Schedule appointments and manage provider calendars

Register new patients and update demographics and insurance information

Verify eligibility, referrals, and authorizations
-
Collect payments (copays, balances, coinsurance, OTC items)

Prepare end-of-day reports, deposit slips, and upload required documents

Review billing claims/denials and gather needed information

Maintain accurate patient records through scanning, faxing, and data entry

Room patients and document vitals, history, and medications
-
Assist with basic procedures (injections, nail care, wart treatments, P&A, minor surgeries)

Apply DME, padding, and strappings; dispense equipment

Perform X-rays and prepare lab specimens

Sterilize instruments and restock exam rooms

Assist with post-op care and follow-up tasks
Medical Assistant 2 Required Skills and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED
-
MA program completion or 2 years of clinical experience
-
Knowledge of medical terminology, basic procedures, and EMR systems

Familiarity with insurance verification and CPT/ICD-10 codes

Strong communication, customer service, and multitasking skills

Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment

Proficient in Microsoft 365

Understanding of HIPAA and confidentiality
