Job Title: Medical Assistant – Dermatology, Roanoke & Blacksburg Office
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our fast-paced dermatology practice in Roanoke, VA. The ideal candidate thrives in a busy clinical environment, provides excellent patient care, and supports providers with both clinical and administrative duties. Dermatology experience is preferred but not required.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Room patients efficiently and prepare them for examination
- Obtain and document patient medical histories, medications, and chief complaints
- Assist providers with dermatologic procedures (biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, etc.)
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and maintain exam rooms
- Perform basic clinical tasks such as wound care, suture removal, and dressing changes
- Educate patients on post-procedure care and skincare regimens
- Capture and upload clinical photographs when needed
Administrative Duties:
- Accurately document visits in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Manage patient flow to maintain an efficient schedule
- Schedule appointments and coordinate follow-ups
- Handle prior authorizations, referrals, and prescription requests
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant certification preferred
- Previous experience in dermatology or a high-volume medical office is a plus
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
- Proficiency with EMR systems

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
