Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences Full-time, continuing position based at our Herston campus location Base salary will be in the range $104k – $113k 17% super (HEW Level 7) About This Opportunity This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and innovative Principal Learning Designer to partner with academic staff across the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences to enhance teaching quality and the student experience. Working as part of a collaborative Learning Design team, you will provide expert, context‑aware advice on curriculum, assessment, and contemporary pedagogical practice. In these purposeful roles, you will work closely with Directors of Teaching and Learning, senior stakeholders, and professional peers to help shape inclusive, engaging, and future‑focused learning experiences at UQ. Key responsibilities will include: Supporting academic staff with the design, development, evaluation, and enhancement of curriculum, assessment, and learning resources across online and face‑to‑face environments. Identifying, promoting, and embedding innovative pedagogical approaches and learning technologies that enhance student engagement and outcomes. Advising teaching and management staff on best‑practice learning design, including the effective use of digital platforms and educational technologies. Collaborating with colleagues across the Faculty and the wider University community of practice to deliver curriculum projects, workshops, and professional learning activities. About You You will bring a strong blend of pedagogical expertise, technical capability, and a collaborative mindset, along with: Degree‑level qualifications with at least four years’ subsequent relevant experience in developing online and on‑campus learning resources, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. An advanced understanding of how higher education students learn, with the ability to apply pedagogical theory to complex teaching and learning contexts. Demonstrated knowledge of the enablers and limitations of educational technologies, and how these can be used to support student achievement, engagement, and teaching innovation. Highly developed analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and design effective learning solutions. Proven experience using learning management systems and associated software to design, develop, implement, and evaluate learning environments. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build trusted, collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders. The agility to work across disciplinary boundaries, adapt quickly to change, and operate effectively both independently and as part of a collegial, client‑focused team.
