Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our weekend team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in caregiving and a passion for supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, as well as experience in acute care settings. This role requires a commitment to providing high-quality care while ensuring the dignity and respect of all patients.
Duties
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Assist with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Implement care plans tailored to the specific needs of patients, including those with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
- Maintain accurate records of patient care and progress in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses and hospice care teams, to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Conduct routine assessments of patient health and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate medical staff.
- Ensure a clean and safe environment for patients by adhering to health and safety protocols.
Qualifications
- At least 6 months of experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Relevant certifications or training in caregiving or healthcare fields such as 9 COR DDA, MANDT, CPR/First Aide, Bloodborne pathogens.
- Must be an active Certified Medication Technician on the Maryland Board of Nursing.
- Familiarity with hospice care practices and acute care environments is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
