Job Summary
The IT Technician & Support Specialist advances the mission of the Upper Dublin School District by delivering reliable, effective, and innovative technology support to students and staff. This position provides hands-on technical assistance for classroom and office technologies, including Chromebooks, computers, mobile devices, peripherals, software, and audio-visual systems, throughout assigned schools and administrative buildings. As a valued member of the Office of Technology & Innovation, the IT Technician & Support Specialist ensures the smooth operation of daily technology functions through skilled troubleshooting, installation, maintenance, and end-user support.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, supplemented by at least one year of college, technical, or on-the-job training preferred.
- One or more relevant industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A , Network , Google IT Support, or equivalent) preferred.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work effectively and courteously with students, teachers, administrators, and other members of the school community.
- Demonstrated ability to learn, adapt, and apply new technologies in a dynamic K–12 educational environment.
Essential Functions
- Provide responsive, high-quality technical support for staff and students across district buildings.
- Troubleshoot and repair hardware, software, and connectivity issues for Chromebooks, laptops, desktops, iPads, and interactive technologies.
- Install, configure, and maintain classroom and office technologies, including AV equipment and peripheral devices (e.g., document cameras, interactive boards, printers).
- Support device connectivity and coordinate with district IT staff to ensure reliable network and system performance.
- Manage and track technology assets and service tickets using a ticketing system, including documentation, ticket assignment, and workflow tracking.
- Facilitate Chromebook repairs and assist with device management systems.
- Communicate effectively with users regarding issue status, resolutions, and best practices in technology.
- Maintain accurate documentation, technical notes, and user guides as needed.
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently, working independently or as part of a collaborative team.
- Safeguard sensitive information and demonstrate sound judgment in all interactions.
- Deliver exceptional customer service with professionalism, patience, and attention to detail.
- Participate in ongoing training and remain current with emerging technologies and district systems.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Innovation and Technology.
Requirements & Clearances
- Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and be able to travel between district buildings as assigned.
- Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and carry objects up to 25 pounds.
- Successful completion of all required Pennsylvania school employment clearances, including:
- Act 34 – Pennsylvania Criminal History Record
- Act 151 – Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance
- FBI – Federal Criminal History (Fingerprint) Clearance
