UPMC’s Healthy Families Primary Care is seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our dedicated care team. In this role, you’ll play an important part in supporting providers and patients through hands-on clinical care, patient education, and coordination of services. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with Epic (Bridges)/EMR, rooming patients, working in a team setting, and performing in-office point-of-care testing such as EKGs and A1c tests. This full-time position will work Monday through Thursday from 7:00am to 5:30pm and on Friday from 7:00am to 2:30pm. No holidays or evenings are required and any weekend shifts would be on a voluntary basis. Eligible candidates may qualify for a sign-on bonus up to $7500.00.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the nursing care for patients and their families.
- Possesses the ability to obtain and interpret information considering age specific needs.
- Conducts interviews with patient to answer questions related to healthcare problems and provides necessary counseling utilizing all resource persons and materials available.
- Administers medications and vaccines as ordered by attending physician and keeps abreast of changes in requirements for immunization, flu vaccines and allergy injections.
- Responsible for sterilization of office equipment and ordering of stock supplies and keeps appropriate records of same.
- Performs laboratory duties assuring compliance with OSHA and CLIA.
- Identifies and communicates educational needs of patients to their physician and does teaching in these areas upon his/her request.
- Assists physician in patient examination and performs specialized procedures.
- Maintains competence through participation in continuing education and other appropriate learning experiences with necessary documentation.
