UPMC is hiring a part-time Communication Facilitator to support UPMC Audiology, located at 203 Lothrop Street, Floor 4, Pittsburgh, PA 15213. This will be a remote role
Responsibilities:
- Provides direct care related to management of hearing loss and communication under the supervision of a licensed Audiologist. i.e. daily management and maintenance of hearing aids and personal listening devices, hearing screening, provision of non-custom amplification devices, education related to care and maintenance of devices, education related to communication strategies, etc.
- Will act in a professional and respectful manner with patients, families, Audiologists, clinical staff, and other interprofessional colleagues.
- The Communication Facilitator will integrate with Audiologists to manage patient communication challenges due to hearing loss. Must have interest in working closely with patients across the age range including geriatric populations and family members.
- Suggest, design and implement facility-wide solutions for better communication in consultation with Audiologist.
- Clerical duties that directly support patient care include checking in new devices, management of device deliveries/mail, verifying insurance coverage specific to amplification devices and communicating this information to the audiologist managing patient hearing aid purchase decision making, correspondence with industry partners and patients.
