UPMC Western Maryland is seeking Sonographers to join their team of life-changers!
The Sonographer performs imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. They competently perform a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative, in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
We're currently hiring for full-time and casual statuses. These positions will work various shifts, including weekend and holiday rotations. Responsibilities:
- Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
- Assists physicians with invasive procedures, adhering to universal protocol standards.
- Interacts with patients and co-workers, displaying caring, listening, dignity, and respect.
- Communicates instructions clearly to patients, explaining procedures to alleviate fears.
- Ensures exams are properly coded, tracked, networked, and charges entered.
- Identifies patients using two identifiers and reviews patient history and physician orders.
- Documents patient history in electronic records as required.
- May handle High-Level Disinfection of devices, supplies, and equipment.
- Obtains and documents cross-sectional anatomy images, correlating measurements with data charts.
- Performs technical ultrasound procedures, using appropriate instrumentation and techniques.
- Completion of formal training in an Ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is required.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
