Key Responsibilities
Planning & Coordination
- Own the field plan: site logistics, manpower loading, tools/equipment, material deliveries, and 3-week look-ahead schedules.
- Review plans/specs, submittals, spool drawings; resolve conflicts via RFIs and trade coordination (BIM/VDC where applicable).
- Lead daily huddles/JSAs; coordinate with GC, HVAC, electrical, and site safety.
- Direct and mentor foremen, journeymen, and apprentices; assign work, set daily goals, verify progress.
- Manage subcontractors (insulation, excavation, testing, etc.) and verify scope completion.
- Oversee installation of DWV, domestic hot/cold water, storm, natural gas/LP, equipment connections (WHs, pumps, fixtures), and specialty systems (e.g., medical gas where applicable).
- Ensure work meets IPC/UPC/IMC, local code, contract documents, and manufacturer requirements.
- Execute/verify QA/QC: pressure tests, chlorination/flush & disinfect, camera/locate as required; maintain red-line as-builts.
- Maintain look-ahead schedule, track percent complete, and remove constraints (RFIs, long-lead items).
- Perform takeoffs; manage material releases, tool requests, and prefab opportunities to improve productivity.
- Control labor/cost codes; approve timecards; help PM with change events and production reporting.
- Lead by example—comply with OSHA, company policies, and site rules (LOTO, fall protection, trenching, hot work).
- Conduct toolbox talks and inspections; document incidents/near misses and corrective actions.
- Coordinate start-up, punch, training, O&M handoff; deliver final as-builts and test reports; support commissioning.
- 5 years commercial/industrial plumbing experience, including 3 years as foreman/superintendent.
- Thorough knowledge of codes (IPC/UPC), installation methods, and inspections.
- Proven ability to read/interpret plans, isometrics, and spool sheets; strong RFI/submittal competence.
- Working knowledge of Procore/PlanGrid/Bluebeam (or similar) and basic scheduling.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable MVR.
- Physical ability to work on active jobsites (heights, ladders, lifts; lift 50 lbs; weather exposure).
- State Journeyman/Master Plumber license [State].
- OSHA-30 (or OSHA-10 at minimum).
- Medical Gas installer/brazer certification (where project scope requires).
- Experience with BIM/VDC coordination and prefabrication workflows.
