General Summary: Provide overall operational and administrative supervision of the USM Fitness Center. Work with USM teams and individuals to provide instruction on proper lifting techniques, lead conditioning sessions, monitor progress, and collaborate with coaches and medical staff. Design and implement evidence-based training programs to improve Wildcat Athletes’ athletic performance and reduce injury risk.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the fitness center, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
- Supervise fitness room activities, teaching proper, safe lifting techniques and biomechanics.
- Develop year-round strength and conditioning programs tailored to specific sports and positions.
- Assess athlete performance and progress using testing, data tracking, and evaluations.
- Work with athletic trainers to design injury prevention strategies and rehabilitation programs.
- Meet with sports coaches to align training with team goals, and promote a positive, disciplined team culture.
- Create a motivating environment in the USM Fitness Center to ensure success and sustainability.
- Foster a welcoming, positive and collaborative environment.
- Address concerns and feedback promptly and effectively.
- Enforce safety protocols and emergency procedures to ensure the well-being of fitness center members.
- Coordinate needs with USM Athletics as a delegated figure of responsibility.
- Complete additional duties as assigned by the AD.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Sports Management, or related field.
- Relevant certifications preferred (CPR, First Aid, Certified Personal Trainer: ACSM, ACE or comparable, etc.)
- Prior experience in teaching physical education or fitness center management and program development
