This position, under general supervision, performs general interior and exterior painting work at the journeyman level. Primary responsibilities include prep and painting new and existing interior walls, ceilings, floors, woodwork, door and window frames, baseboards, radiators, etc.; work with natural wood surfaces (stain, seal, varnish); prepare, tape, prime new drywall; spray paint cabinets, equipment, and other surfaces as required; match and mix paints and protective coatings, hanging wall coverings. Other responsibilities include exterior work such as prep and paint trim, sashes, doors, and miscellaneous metals; working on a swing stage, ladder, or scaffolding as necessary; glaze window sashes; sanding or water blasting surfaces.

Minimum Qualifications

The wage for this position is $40.65 per hour.
Applicants for this vacancy must:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License
- Completion of a registered apprenticeship program approved by the Department of Workforce Development as a Painter as defined on DWD website – https://dwd.wisconsin.gov/apprenticeship/trades/painter-n-decorator.htm OR
- Formal recognition of status by the appropriate international or local trade organization or some type of similar formal validation of journeyman status OR
- Evidence of at least 10,400 hours total of exterior and interior professional painting experience.
- Working knowledge of occupational hazards and safety procedures of the painting trade.
- Evidence of the ability to work on ladders and scaffolding, lift and carry 60 lbs., work on feet for extended periods of time, and raise arms overhead and work overhead to perform painting duties.
- Ability to wear PPE as required by policy.
Highly qualified candidates will also have:
- Demonstrated work experience performing commercial and/or institutional painting
- Evidence of strong customer service skills and working in diverse work environments
- Evidence of drywall taping experience
- Evidence of spraying experience with conventional and airless setups
- Evidence of working knowledge of painting materials and how to select, mix and apply them
