The University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee's Program in Occupational Therapy, Science, Technology & Rehabilitation is seeking a qualified ad hoc instructor to teach the course Occupational Therapy with Children and Families . The course includes lecture content and lab experiences . The position is temporary and needed to cover the course starting in February. The ad hoc instructor will be fully supported by the OT Program Director for both planning and delivering course content.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and deliver high-quality course content related to occupational therapy to address the needs of children and their families in a wide range of practice settings.
Develop syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, and exams that align with program goals and accreditation standards.
Facilitate classroom discussions and lab experiences.
Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
Ensure course materials are inclusive and accessible, adhering to university standards.
Maintain office hours and/or virtual availability to assist students outside of class.
This is a part-time fixed-term appointment – s tart date is to be determined . The tentative start date is early to mid- February, 2026 . The contract end date is May 24, 2026 .
Work will be performed on the UWM campus.

The S chool of Rehabilitation Sciences & Technology (RS&T) offers programs in Physical Therapy, Communication Sciences & Disorders, Occupational Therapy, Occupational Science and Technology, Athletic Training, and Therapeutic Recreation. The school has a strong focus on healthcare, interprofessional education, clinical experience, evidence-based practice, technology, and patient-centered care.
Compensation:
This is a part-time , fixed term appointment position during the spring 202 6 semester . Target rate is expected to be $3,200- $5,000 . Final offer contingent upon skills, knowledge, and abilities as demonstrated throughout the selection process and confirmat ion of start date.
Required Qualifications:
Master’s or doctoral degree in occupational therapy or a related field with a focus on practice settings that serve the needs of children and families.
Proven expertise in the subject areas for which you are applying to teach.
Currently Wisconsin licensed Occupational Therapist or eligible for State of Wisconsin Occupational Therapy License (must be licensed by start date) .
Preferred Qualifications:
Clinical experience in occupational therapy settings where children and families receive occupational therapy services. Examples of settings include birth-to-three, schools, outpatient, and inpatient settings.
Demonstrated knowledge with billing practices, documentation, and laws such as IDEA that impact service delivery for children and families.
Familiarity with using an online learning platform such as Canvas.
Prior teaching experience at the university level.
