Responsibilities
Provides strategic, operational, clinical, and financial leadership for critical care. Ensures delivery of high-acuity, evidence-based care while achieving quality outcomes, fiscal stewardship, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
· Strategic & Operational Leadership: Provides strategic direction for assigned service lines and departments. Oversees daily operations, patient throughput, length of stay, and level-of-care optimization to ensure alignment with organizational goals and capacity management strategies.
· Clinical Quality & Patient Safety: Accountable for clinical quality metrics including infection prevention (CLABSI, CAUTI), falls, pressure injuries, medication safety, mortality index (as applicable), and compliance with evidence-based care bundles. Promotes a culture of safety and high reliability.
· Financial & Productivity Management: Develops and manages operating and capital budgets. Monitors productivity benchmarks (HPPD, skill mix, FTE management), premium labor utilization, agency usage, and variance reporting to ensure fiscal stewardship and cost containment.
· Workforce Leadership & Talent Development: Recruits, develops, and retains high-performing nursing leaders and staff. Promotes specialty certification, shared governance, succession planning, leadership rounding, and engagement initiatives to strengthen workforce stability.
· Patient Experience & Care Coordination: Accountable for patient satisfaction and service excellence metrics, including HCAHPS (as applicable). Supports interdisciplinary collaboration to improve care coordination and communication across the continuum.
· Regulatory & Compliance Oversight: Maintains continuous survey readiness and ensures compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards. Ensures adherence to professional nursing practice standards and organizational policies.

Additional Information
Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama, five years of progressive nursing leadership experience in acute care, and current RN license . Master’s degree in nursing, healthcare administration, or related field preferred. Specialty or executive certification preferred.
