Position Summary
The Coordinator will be responsible for the Southern Rhode Island Area Health Education Center (sriAHEC). As such, the Coordinator will be responsible for strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Pathways to Nursing Program within the College of Nursing (CON) at the University of Rhode Island (URI). This role involves coordinating enrichment activities, fostering student leadership and professional growth, managing budgets, and overseeing academic support services. The position, supported by a 5-year Health Resources & Human Services (HRSA) grant, reports to the Dean of the CON and to the project PI at Brown University.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Duties And Responsibilities
Provide overall direction and administration of the Pathways Program.
Oversee planning and execution of academic year and summer events.
Supervise and mentor Pathways scholars to support leadership development.
Coordinate recruitment efforts.
Plan and execute workshops, social events, and enrichment activities.
Coordinate with university departments and external partners for event planning and student support.
Manage event logistics (e.g., venues, catering, speaker recruitment).
Prepare and manage annual budgets.
Oversee distribution of book/app stipends, clinical uniforms, and supplies.
Coordinate tutoring for high-risk nursing courses.
Maintain regular communication with students and stakeholders.
Track student academic performance.
Conduct surveys and prepare reports for evaluation and compliance.
Send regular communications to students and stakeholders.
Other Duties And Responsibilities
Perform other duties as required.
Licenses, Tools, And Equipment
Personal computers, printers; word processing, database management, and spreadsheet software.

- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related Social Sciences field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of three years of administration experience.
- Experience and commitment to enhancing student engagement.
- Experience and commitment to enhancing inclusive practices and providing students with resources, academic and social support.
- Planning and organizational development experience.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others in different levels of institutional responsibility.
- Decision-making skills.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in written communication skills.
- Ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in nursing or related Social Sciences field.
- Registered Nurse (RN) with clinical experience.
