What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Professional Trainee - Accommodations position at University of Nevada, Reno?
The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Staff Professional Trainee for the Department of Human Resources, Accommodations team. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with departments across campus and evaluate accommodation requests. The Staff Professional Trainee position reports to the Accommodations Coordinator.
This position is responsible for receiving, researching, and evaluating, requests for employee accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Pregnancy Workers Fairness Act (PWFA), Fair Housing Act, and Title VII.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Reviews requests for accommodations under the ADA, PWFA, Fair Housing Act, and Title VII religious’ accommodation
- Responsible for engaging employees, medical professionals, supervisors, and HR Business Partners to assist employees with disabilities who require workplace accommodations
- Determines whether requests qualify under law; determines reasonableness of request, and makes recommendations for approval; author accommodation recommendations
- Provide communication and training to employees and supervisors
- Provide guidance to campus regarding issues relating to accommodations
- Ensure compliance with federal and state laws
Required Qualifications
- This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in any field; OR
- Two (2) years of journey level technical or paraprofessional experience in the field in which the applicant is to be trained.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with experience in Human resources, compliance, accommodation, or disability services are encouraged to apply.
Candidates with experience working in higher education are encouraged to apply.
Schedule
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Compensation Grade
Grade 30
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
