What are the responsibilities and job description for the Graduate Research Assistant position at University of Nevada-Las Vegas?
We are seeking motivated PhD applicants with backgrounds in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Material Science to join Dr. Hui Zhao’s lab at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Our research focuses on micro- and nano-scale transport phenomena where transport and interfacial phenomena strongly couple. Full tuition and stipend are provided for admitted PhD students.
Our core thrusts are: (1) energy technologies (energy conversion and energy storage), including anti-reflection coatings for solar cells; (2) lab-on-a-chip biomedical systems for studying biological processes and automating biochemical assays; (3) biomaterial (silk fibroin) for biomedical and water treatment applications.
Preferred experience (not required):
- Fluid mechanics / transport phenomena
- Microfluidics / nanofluidics
- Superhydrophobic surfaces
- Soft lithography
- Silk biomaterials
- Thin-film solar cells & anti-reflection coatings
To apply: Email Dr. Hui Zhao at hui.zhao@unlv.edu with your CV and a cover letter describing your background and research interests.
