Job Description

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Director, Benefits & Human Capital Management (HCM) Support - Flexible Work Schedule [R0152594].

ROLE of the POSITION

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Human Resources, the Director, Benefits and HCM Support provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the university’s Benefits, Leave Administration, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accommodation process, and Temporary Employment and HCM Support functions. The Director ensures effective delivery of programs and services that support the employee lifecycle while maintaining compliance with applicable federal, state, NSHE, and university policies. This position establishes operational standards, monitors service levels, drives continuous process improvement, and provides leadership and guidance on the most complex and sensitive matters within the assigned areas of responsibility.

The Director serves as the institutional lead for benefits administration, including oversight of NSHE-sponsored and state-sponsored health, welfare, retirement, and voluntary benefit programs such as RPA, PERS, tax-sheltered annuity and deferred compensation programs, medical insurance, supplemental insurance, Section 125 programs, and other employee benefit offerings. The position also provides leadership for leave and absence management programs, including FMLA, sick and annual leave, catastrophic leave, leave audits, and ADA workplace accommodation processes. In addition, the Director oversees temporary employment processes and HCM transaction support, including non-recruited appointments, letters of appointment, temporary hourly employees, student employees, and Workday transaction triage. The Director develops and maintains strong partnerships with university leadership, campus stakeholders, NSHE institutions, Business Center South partners, and external vendors to align priorities, improve service delivery, evaluate benefit plan options, support procurement and RFP processes, analyze utilization and market trends, and advance strategic human resources initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Eight (8) years of progressively responsible human resources experience, including at least five (5) years overseeing benefits, leave administration, HR operations, or related functional areas, and three (3) years in a supervisory or management role.
  • In lieu of a bachelor's degree, applicants may qualify with an associate's degree and two (2) additional years of relevant experience, or four (4) additional years of relevant experience in place of the degree.

SALARY

Salary range is $130,000 to $140,000 or commensurate with the labor market.
