Job Summary
The Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning has an opportunity for a full-time, temporary accounting clerk for our business services team to support the college's fiscal operations. Reporting to the senior financial manager, candidates for this position will be responsible for coordinating various procurement transactions, completing accounting services, and maintaining various trackers and reports. You will be expected to handle assignments with accuracy, integrity, as efficiency, as well as with a sound understanding of UM procurement policies, procedures and internal controls. This position requires attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, multi-tasking, and the ability to work with various internal business systems. The employment is expected to conclude in June 2027, but could end sooner based on the needs of the department.
Note: This job is situated in Ann Arbor and on-campus work is required three days a week, with a few fully remote weeks throughout the academic year as well as a mostly remote period from mid-May through the end of the appointment in June.

Responsibilities*
- Work with the university's Shared Services Center and other units to process various types of procurement transactions in a timely manner; promptly identify, follow up, and resolve issues or concerns; answer questions from customers related to payment processing
- Perform routine accounting tasks including journal entries, cash/check deposit, ChartCom setup and closeout, etc.
- Compile and maintain various logs, trackers, and reports as assigned
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts and development of process documentation to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the operations
- Perform other financial duties as assigned by the senior financial manager
- The responsibilities listed above are representative of the work of this position. They may evolve and/or change over time to meet the needs of the college
- High school diploma
- One year of professional experience, preferably in accounting or finance-related work
- Intermediate-level experience with Excel (create spreadsheets and use formulas) and experience with other MS Office/Google products
