Part-Time Faculty - Occupational Therapy, Spring 2026

The University of Southern Maine’s Occupational Therapy Department invites applications for part-time faculty. We have openings to teach a group process course in Spring 2026 semester, and for lab instructors in the adult physical disabilities course in Summer 2026 semester.

We are seeking student-focused instructors who will be responsible for the full delivery and grading of the course. Responsibilities include teaching, assessing student performance, and meeting with students as needed. The instructor will be provided with the learning objectives, program competencies, and suggested topical outline and will be given a previous course syllabus for reference.

The Occupational Therapy Department offers comprehensive OT programs through its Lewiston-Auburn campus, providing multiple pathways for aspiring practitioners. Students can pursue a Bachelor of S cience Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA-B) degree, a Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) degree, an Entry-Level Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD), or a Post-Professional OTD for those already in the field. Faculty members are committed to providing accessible and relationship-based occupational therapy education that is hands-on, community-engaged, and focused on the future of occupational therapy practice.

Part-time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior teaching experience. Eligible part-time faculty members may elect certain benefits provided by the University of Maine System. In addition, The Center for Academic Innovation provides learning design consulting and faculty development opportunities to help faculty to create engaging programs, courses and lesson plans grounded in evidence-based best practices for every modality.

  • Clinical experience in the content area of the course
  • Licensed occupational therapist in the state of Maine
