Salary: $2,335.50/month minimum
Other Conditions: To begin August 1, 2026 pending position clearance and availability of funds. Temporary position not to exceed July 31, 2027.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative, programmatic, publication and research support for the Center for South Asia Studies (CSAS).
- Maintain CSAS website and social media accounts.
- Produce weekly newsletter and other communications as needed.
- Assist in organizing the CSAS Spring Symposium.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Acceptance or enrollment in a Masters or Ph.D. program at the University of Hawai’i and in good academic standing.
- Demonstrated ability to solve technical and logistical issues.
- Experience with maintaining and updating websites (familiarity with basic html, Wordpress and/or Cascade), desktop publication software, Adobe InDesign and Mail Chimp weekly newsletter templates or Constant Contact templates.
- Ability to use social media to publicize CSAS.
- Prior experience with organizing academic events.
- Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in writing and orally.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Familiarity with humanities and social science research about South Asia and South Asian Studies.
- Working knowledge of a South Asian language.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
