"UConn Health" invites applications for a research scientist position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level within the Department of Surgery/Division of Urology. We seek outstanding individuals with a strong record of published basic and/or translational research who are eager to make a difference at the intersection of surgical science and geroscience.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. and have demonstrated experience in grant writing. Required expertise includes single-cell genomic analysis of mammalian tissues and quantitative methods. Prior research experience in bladder, pancreas, and/or kidney tissue is preferred. Additional preferred qualifications include experience in biomarker development (blood and/or tissue), aptamer-based technologies, and computational biology.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about collaborative, team-based science and motivated to work closely with physician-scientists in the Department of Surgery and the Center on Aging. This role offers the opportunity to develop molecularly informed risk stratification approaches in older adults with the goal of enabling more personalized surgical decision-making. Appropriate laboratory space and a start-up package will be offered.
