The University of Connecticut School of Medicine is conducting a search for a full-time, non-tenure track Assistant Professor as an Anatomist and Medical Educator. Candidates should hold a Ph.D and training in human anatomy. A major responsibility for a successful candidate will be teaching of gross anatomy and other lab disciplines to medical and dental students in the Stage 1 laboratory course of our innovative and integrated curriculum. Gross anatomy is team-based, with three learning communities rotating through the Human Anatomy Lab to perform progressive dissections at one of sixteen workstations. Learning is therefore a combination of hands-on dissection and the study of prosections performed by student colleagues. Faculty also perform prosections that are made available to students. In addition, the course includes integrated teaching of cross-sectional anatomy, radiology and ultrasound in our Virtual Anatomy Lab, alongside hands-on physiology labs and histopathology labs that utilize a virtual microscope system. Experience in teaching these additional disciplines is a benefit. The position provides opportunity to create educational resources and to work collaboratively with a team. Additionally, this faculty member will be responsible for preparation and grading of assessments, participation in a number of summer and community programs, and other scholarly activities. This position will also entail other educational and administrative activities, such as participation in the UConn Health Coaching Program for medical students and/or serving on governance and operational committees. The successful candidate will be team-oriented, an effective communicator, and demonstrate their commitment to medical education.

The Schools of Medicine and Dental Medicine are co-located with UConn Health, which is an academic medical center located approximately 35 miles from the main UConn campus in Storrs, about 10 miles west of Hartford. Minimum Qualifications Required - Knowledge, Skill and Ability

• Ph.D. in a relevant field

• Demonstrated experience in anatomical teaching, especially gross anatomy

• Excellent interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching physiology, cellular biology, neuroanatomy and histology
