Our top rated organization is looking to add an Administrative Manager to our growing Central Sterile Processing team. If you have a background in this field, as well as a passion for customer and patient experience, we want to hear from you. At UConn Health, this position is responsible for the oversight of the Central Sterile Supply & Distribution department in providing consistent quality-focused services. This position will Manage and provide direct oversight and leadership to multiple sites for reprocessing and distribution of instrumentation and equipment. This position is located at UConn Health in Farmington, CT.
SCHEDULE: Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under direct supervision of the Nursing Director Procedural Services
EXERCISED SUPERVISION: Manages, mentors and coaches supervisors and staff in Sterile Processing and Distribution.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration or public health and four (4) years' experience in central service/sterile processing which includes at least two (2) years' of supervisory experience.
SUBSTITUTION ALLOWED: Four (4) additional years' experience in central service/sterile processing may substitute for the Bachelor degree.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Sterile Processing certification (CRCST) by International Association of Healthcare Service Materials Management (IAHSMM) is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of operational needs, managing budgets, capital budgeting and annual business plan for sterile processing department.
Considerable knowledge of staffing needs based on work volume and productivity.
Considerable knowledge of health care regulatory requirements
Knowledge of mediation and corrective action procedures.
Knowledge of computer systems applicable to the work of the department.
Strong communication skills, including the abilities to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, internally and externally, and at all levels of the organization
Strong organizational, analytical, managerial and interpersonal skills
Strong project management skill
Microsoft office skills to include: Word, Excel, Access and Power Point
Leadership skills with the ability to direct activities of others both individually and within a project team setting
Analytical ability in identifying problems, developing solutions and implementing effective courses of action
Ability to facilitate change, work harmoniously with teams and manage effectively.
Detail and process oriented with focus on efficiency
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans workflow, manages and coordinates the 24/7 activities of the Central Sterile Supply unit.
Ensures operations are running efficiently and in compliance with hospital policies, State regulations and accreditation agency guidelines.
Works with the OR leadership team to improve operational efficiencies.
Develops standards, policies and procedures that assure quality and state mandates/regulations are followed and costs are controlled.
Provides leadership and serves as a resource for supervisors and department staff to insure the smooth operations of the day-to-day activities.
Coordinates assignment and work reviews, scheduling, training, staff orientation, recruitment, performance evaluation and coaching processes.
Assures staff met all required yearly certifications, SABA and other educational attainments.
Develop strong working relationships and communication with all departments and divisions, physicians, and non-physician providers including surgical schedulers to assure efficient service levels are met.
Coordinate and lead the department to achieve accreditation.
Works closely with HR liaison on performance improvement plans and other personnel issues.
Works with HR recruitment on hiring for vacancies.
Responsible for working with appropriate facility staff to assure employee and patient safety and risk minimization.
Performs other related duties as required
WORKING CONDITIONS:
24-hour accountability for Central Sterile and Distribution.
Maybe exposed to communicable/infectious diseases.
May occasionally be required to lift and carry trays of surgical instruments.
