About The Department

The Institute for Mind and Biology at the University of Chicago enables research answering fundamental questions about the mind and its dynamic interaction with the biological systems of the body. Our researchers seek to understand the relationships between the mind, the brain and the body in health and in disease. Our institute is unique in bringing together a diverse group of researchers who investigate these questions in different model organisms using state of the art techniques.

Job Summary

The job provides basic technical support activities related to scientific research projects. Complies with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives and mandates. Assists in drafting presentations on research findings.

Responsibilities

  • This job provides technical and administrative support in a laboratory environment performing basic laboratory techniques, research and analysis under direction.
  • Provides routine or standardized laboratory duties by following protocols, troubleshooting methodologies, and rigorously documenting processes and data outcomes in support of research projects, under supervision.
  • Complies with institution, state and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives, and mandates.
  • Collects and enters data. Assists in analysis of data and with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Education:

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum requirements include vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field (not typically required to have a four-year degree).

Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

  • Bachelor' s degree (BA or BS) and apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related fields (e.g. neurobiology, psychology).
