Description
Assist in the preparation and delivery of nutritious meals for the infants, children and staff of the childcare facility, to include breakfast, lunch and snack. Support cook in maintaining a sanitary and safe kitchen. Assist with the center’s laundry and toy wash for the classrooms.
Examples of Duties
- Assist in the preparation of meals, to include proper handling of meats, vegetables and fruit; to include the mixing and baking of various quick breads.
- Support the other kitchen staff members in maintaining a sanitary kitchen.
- Aid in ensuring the proper serving meals and milk to the classrooms; to include appropriate portion sizes for the different age groups.
- Aid in assuring that children with allergies are served correctly.
- Deliver meals to the designated area within each classroom.
- Collect trays and dishes from classrooms at the end of each meal; assist with washing according to defined state guidelines.
- Put away dishes when they are dry.
- Help with center’s laundry and toy wash.
Typical Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Have the ability to speak, read and write in English
- Have the ability to communicate with clients from diverse backgrounds
- Must pass physical examination, have required immunization
- Must pass criminal background screening
- Friendly, outgoing, and motivated
- Cooking experience preferred.
Supplemental Information
- Student Employees/Teachers hired through Financial Aid would not be eligible to drive University-owned vehicles or transport children in their private vehicles.
