Job Summary:

The UCSF-SFGH JJBH research team engages in a program of research focused on improving behavioral health, service access, and legal outcomes for system-involved youth, young adults, adults, and families. The JJBH team's portfolio includes projects and programs focused on behavioral health service navigation for youth, young adults, and families, including navigator programs for transition-age youth recently or currently involved in foster care, family navigation in Pediatric Primary Care at ZSFG, telehealth interventions for youth and families impacted by the child welfare system, digital health interventions, and evaluation of gender-responsive behavioral health services for girls and women who have contact with the justice system.

Under the supervision of the JJBH Supervisor, the incumbent will work closely with Dr. Marina Tolou-Shams and JJBH collaborators and partners to coordinate and support JJBH research grants, programs, and related initiatives. The incumbent will support analytical studies on a variety of policies, projects, programs, and issues in support of research initiatives, program operations, and organizational goals. This includes assisting with policy and program planning, development, administration, management, and implementation; interpreting, monitoring, and analyzing information related to policies and procedures; and providing consultative support to department administrators and other stakeholders. The incumbent may also provide peer navigation support related to digital health applications, helping youth, young adults, families, and/or partners understand, access, and engage with digital health tools as part of JJBH projects and services.

Department Overview:

The Division of Infant, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (ICAP) at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG) is looking to hire an Administrative Assistant on Dr. Marina Tolou-Shams' Juvenile inJustice Behavioral Health (JJBH) research team. The UCSF-SFGH JJBH research team engages in a program of research that incorporates epidemiological/observation, behavioral intervention efficacy trial, and structural-level approaches to understanding how to improve behavioral health (HIV and sexually transmitted infections risk, psychiatric symptoms, substance use), and legal (recidivism) outcomes for system-involved youth and adults. The JJBH team also has a portfolio of work focusing on projects and programs specific to behavioral health service navigation for youth, young adults and families (e.g., a navigator program for transition age youth recently or currently involved in foster care, a family navigator program for youth and families served in Pediatric Primary Care at ZSFG), telehealth interventions for youth and families impacted by the child welfare system, and evaluation of gender-responsive behavioral health services for girls and women who have contact with the justice system (e.g., evaluation of VoicesHEAL gender responsive services).

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training Working knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs
  • Minimum one year experience required
  • Proficient in communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Proficient in ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality
  • Demonstrates ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze, research and synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes
  • Working knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques
