We are seeking a Junior Specialist to join the DelRosso laboratory at UCSF. In this position, you will learn to use novel high-throughput microfluidic technologies for understanding gene expression. You will gain expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry/biophysics, and microfluidics.

In This Position, You Will
- Use high-throughput molecular biology techniques, such as Golden gate assembly, DNA isolation, and NGS sample prep.
- Fabricate PDMS-based microfluidic devices.
- Conduct high-throughput automation and fluorescence microscopy experiments.
- Analyze your data using Python-based workflows.
- Maintain an organized and detailed lab notebook.
- Learn to develop a high degree of independence with research planning, execution, analysis, troubleshooting, and data interpretation.
- Present at group meetings and seminars.
- Have a strong work ethic and passion for science.
- Possess a bachelor’s degree or at least four years of equivalent research experience in bioengineering, biophysics, or cell & molecular biology.
- Have had two or more summer research experiences (40 hours/week) or at least one sustained research experience during the academic school year (10 hours/week for more than one year) or have contributed to a peer-reviewed publication.
Preferred qualifications (at time of hire)
- Have had one or more years of experience with standard biochemistry techniques including protein purification, fluorescent labeling, and/or quantitative microscopy.
