Junior Specialist- Calderon Lab
The Department of Bioengineering & Therapeutic Sciences is now recruiting a Junior Specialist. The position duties including performing molecular biology techniques including RNA/DNA extraction, PCR, plasmid preparation, basic cloning, NGS library prep, gel electrophoresis, tissue culture, performing basic sequence data analysis, scientific writing, organization of data appropriate to role in the lab, record keeping and data entry, and shared lab manager/organizational duties. Exceptional candidates will lead their own independent project(s), develop new ideas, be familiar with the literature, and participate in procurement of funds, where appropriate.
Required Qualifications
See Table 24B for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $55,000-$58,600.

Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent degree) or at least four years of research experience. A bachelor's degree may be in progress if the expected completion date will be before the start of the position.
- A background in molecular biology
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to learn new methods and skills for changing research priorities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, coordinate work tasks with others, and meet multiple deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a research team.
- Candidates must meet the required qualifications at the time of appointment.
