Description
Join our Glaucoma clinic team with the Dept of Ophthalmology, where you'll play a key role in delivering a seamless and positive patient experience. We're seeking a friendly, detail-oriented individual who is passionate about providing excellent patient service and supporting high-volume phone operations. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Pre-registering new and returning patients via telephone
- Collecting demographic and insurance information
- Entering authorizations and referrals
- Scheduling appointments
- Process incoming faxes, medical records and authorizations
- Relay messages with faculty and office staff via email, paging system, and verbal messages
- Provide backup assistance in other patient areas as directed
Salary Range: $26.42-37.49 Hourly
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum six months of experience working in healthcare settingscheduling patient appointments.
- Familiarity with current billing practices including governmental plans such as Medicare and Medicaid.
- Verbal and written skills in English sufficient to communicate effectively with patients, doctors and staff.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with individuals of varied backgrounds effectively, with professionalism, patience and understanding.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a systematic manner to maximize efficiency.
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism while dealing with the stressors of operating a multi-line telephone system.
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions and to complete assignments in a timely manner.
Preferred:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Experience working in ophthalmology practice.
- One year of experience working in clinical teaching environment.
