Berkeley Public Health (BPH) aims to improve population health, especially for the most vulnerable, through interdisciplinary collaborations, preeminent education, and transformational research. Established in 1943, BPH is a professional school on the UC Berkeley campus that comprises six academic divisions and nearly 30 research centers and programs. Responsibilities
Develop scopes of work, budgets, proposals, and recommendations for multiple new public health-focused social impact innovation programs at Berkeley Public Health. Research, monitor, and analyze emerging trends, issues, and best practices in public health and social impact program management to inform program design and implementation. Tracks changes in legislation and UC policies to identify and overcome potential obstacles to program success. Develop and maintains relationships with external and internal stakeholders - including Berkeley Public Health senior leadership, undergraduate and graduate students, and other campus units - to achieve program goals. Create and execute a marketing plan to build awareness of Berkeley Public Health's social impact innovation programs, attract program applicants, and share program successes through appropriate PR channels. Design and implement program monitoring and evaluation plans - especially pertaining to small grant administration - to track progress, identify challenges, and make necessary adjustments. Plan medium-sized recognition events and workshops for students on best practices in the ideation and implementation of social impact concepts. Conduct post-implementation analysis to identify opportunities for refinement and improvements and incorporate feedback collected from internal and external stakeholders. Prepare and present program reports to department administrators, funders, partners, and other stakeholders, highlighting program achievements, challenges, and lessons learned. Participate in workshops, training, and other professional development opportunities. Other duties, as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality. Analytical/problem-solving skills. Strong skills in analyzing, researching, and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals/analyses. Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes. Strong project management skills. Ability to define the parameters of new partnerships and maintain collaborative relationships. Ability to integrate core concepts of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging into everyday practice.
Education/Training:
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of and/or ability to learn UC financial policies and systems.
Licenses/Certifications:
Project Management Professional Certification.

Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $78,000.00 - $88,000.00.
This is a 24-month, 100% full-time (40 hours per week), contract position that is eligible for full UC benefits with the possibility of extension. This position is exempt and paid monthly.
