The Division of Student Life is accepting applications to fill a full time Service & Repair Mechanic (HVAC-R) position within Residential Maintenance Services. In this role, you will work with a team of dynamic and diverse individuals and ensure that equipment is installed correctly, properly maintained and repaired as needed across UB’s North and South campuses. All the Student Life trades, and custodial staff work within UB’s residential halls and apartments.
As a Service and Repair Mechanic (HVAC-R), your contributions will ensure that equipment and systems are installed correctly, properly maintained, and repaired as needed.

In the event of an emergency, services related to the health and safety of students, faculty, staff, and guests, and the security and maintenance of facilities are essential and must continue. Employees hired into this position are designated as ‘Level 1’ meaning they are considered essential and are expected to report to campus so that these services will continue without disruption.

As a Service and Repair Mechanic (HVAC-R), your contributions will ensure that equipment and systems are installed correctly, properly maintained, and repaired as needed.
Responsibilities Include
- Supervising and training designated staff as applicable.
- Troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and replacing compressors, pumps, and electric motors.
- Troubleshooting, diagnosing, adjusting, and replacing parts & controls to include Building Management Systems.
- Installing and maintaining equipment.
- Operating and performing repairs to refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment.
- Inspecting and troubleshooting equipment for leaks and electrical/mechanical failures.
