Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Research Assistant position based in Buffalo, NY. The Research Assistant will support ongoing projects investigating immune responses in periodontal disease using both in vivo mouse models and in vitro systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing experiments using murine models of disease, including tissue collection and processing
- Conducting in vitro culture of immune cells, including primary T cells and antigen-presenting cells
- Running and analyzing experiments using flow cytometry (including staining, acquisition, and basic analysis)
- Assisting with experimental design, data collection, and data interpretation
- Maintaining accurate laboratory records and contributing to data organization
- Preparing figures and summaries for lab meetings and reports
- Collaborating closely with lab members to ensure reproducibility and rigor of experiments
- Following all institutional biosafety, IACUC, and laboratory protocols
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, immunology, biomedical sciences, or a related field
- Hands-on experience with:
Mouse models (handling, basic procedures, tissue processing)
In vitro immune cell culture
Flow cytometry and cell sorting
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple experiments and timelines
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Preferred:
- Prior experience in immunology research
- Familiarity with T cell biology or host–microbe interactions
- Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., FlowJo, Prism, or similar)
- Experience with molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, RNA work)
