Universal Plant Services is looking for a HR Generalist that will be responsible for supporting day-to-day human resources operations and employee relations initiatives for the organization. This role partners with employees and management to support recruiting, onboarding, leave administration, performance management, employee engagement, and compliance with company policies and employment laws. The HR Generalist serves as a resource for HR-related questions, assists with employee lifecycle processes, and helps foster a positive and productive work environment within a fast-paced setting.
Essential Job Requirements:
- Conduct employee milestone and separation interviews, including 30, 60, and 90 day check-ins and exit interviews, to support employee relations and retention efforts.
- Support onboarding, new hire orientation, and training initiatives.
- Act as a resource for employee relations questions, helping resolve issues with tact and compliance.
- Manages talent acquisition and recruitment process, including job postings, screening resumes, coordinating interviews and attending career fairs.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to refine job descriptions and define ideal candidate profiles.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resources programs including but not limited to recruiting, compensation, benefits, leave, investigations, disciplinary matters, performance management, training and employee engagement.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state and local employment laws, regulations, and best practices. Reviews UPS policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Support benefits administration and employee lifecycle processes.
- Manage leave processes including FMLA, STD/LTD, and ADA accommodations.
- Maintain and update employee records and HR documentation.
- Work on incoming subpoenas and sort all incoming mail.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
- Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.
- SHRM-CP, PHR, or California-specific certification (e.g. SHRM-California Law HR Specialty) is preferred
Required Experience
- 3 years of experience in a similar role
- Experience supporting employee relations and HR operations.
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative, people-first mindset.
Required Skills
- Must have the ability to work in a high volume and fast-paced work environment.
- Must be organized, analytical and have a sense of urgency for time sensitive delivery.
- Must be able to demonstrate the capacity to be self-motivated, handling multiple projects with little to no supervision.
- Knowledge of HR practices, labor laws, regulations, and best practices related to workplace equality.
- Must have strong teamwork skills and effective interpersonal skills; along with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have I-9 knowledge

Salary Pay: $60,000-65,000 DOE
