Responsibilities
- Performs the various duties related to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. This includes scrubbing a case, documenting/monitoring, and circulating during procedure under the supervision of the cardiologist/vascular surgeon.
- Providers circulator role in the Invasive Vascular Labs as assigned
- Oversight of circulating assistants during procedures.
- Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient’s care.
- Utilizes critical thinking in making independent judgement and maintains responsibility and accountability for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients.
- Assesses needs of patients and families, providing appropriate teaching and making the necessary referrals to provide continuity of care.
- Communicates effectively with other team members including physicians, nurses, radiologic technologists, clinical partners, and dept secretaries and leaders. Communicates effectively with patients and families.
- Participates in taking off-hour call as assigned
- Continues professional development by involvement in professional activities that enhance nursing practice by sharing knowledge through networking and research.
- Utilizes a holistic approach (considering biopsychosocial, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria) appropriate to the age of the patients and families served in the assigned service area.
- Delegates and provides direction for other healthcare providers and holding them accountable for their involvement in the plan of care. Consistently delivers high quality care utilizing the nursing process while demonstrating knowledge
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or IA Board of Nursing approved nursing program.
- Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa
- Minimum of twelve months acute RN experience.
- All newly licensed RNs or RNs with less than twelve months of acute RN experience and who are interested in this department or any other Acute RN role within UnityPoint Health – Des Moines, are encouraged and required to participate in the RN Residency program. - Level 3 Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
