What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager position at United Veterans Construction and Landscape Solutions, Inc?
The successful Operations Manager (OM) plans, organizes, and manages daily activities related to production and operations in landscape Maintenance, Construction, Plant Health Care, and Water Management. Conducts monthly site assessments and quality control reports for all client’s properties. Measures productivity by analyzing performance data, financial data, and activity reports. Develops and maintains positive employee and client relationships. Works with other departments to ensure alignment of companies’ vision, objectives and milestones. This position requires a person who can work under duress, multi-task, highly organized, energetic, detailed oriented and possess outstanding internal and external customer service and leadership skills. The incumbent will also perform all other duties as assigned.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership, direction and motivation to team members, site supervisors, crew leaders, peers and superiors; manage the overall operational performance targets within projected contract timelines and cost
• Implement strategies to meet customers’ needs, solve customers’ issues, identify new enhancement project opportunities, increase company’s gross profit margin, and reduce job costing margins
• Organize and manage the schedule and work of all production team members
• Evaluate teams’ performance and rate properties’ quality standards by analyzing weekly Quality Control Ratings (QCRs); manage the implementation of QCRs
• Determine labor needs to meet production goals
• Supervise Greenius training completion for all production team members

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of industry; landscape, construction, irrigation, arbor, plant health care, blueprints, equipment utilization and technological services
- Proven ability to work in a demanding, deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Extensive knowledge of operations and production management
- Proven organizational and time management skills
- Strong analytical, decision-making, conflict resolution, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret financial data as needed to set production goals
- Excellent verbal and written communication as well as presentation skills
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn and adapt to new and changing computer programs/software

- Ability to assign and supervise the work of others, provide instruction, lead crew and inspire confidence
- Knowledge of horticultural practices, including but not limited to planting, pruning, and fertilization
- Ability to assist with budget preparation related to operations
- Strong knowledge in the development, implementation and refinement of all areas of field operations and safety
- Profit driven; seeks ways to reduce costs, improve efficiency and increase margins
- Posses basic knowledge of business management acumen
Physical Requirements:
- Will work within and outside of Headquarters
- May spend 35% of time out at work sites and making sure operations are moving smoothly, and 65% of the time in the office working on reports, logistics and preparation of upcoming work; this is determined based on the needs of the business
- May be exposed to hazardous material, loud noise, and/or extreme heat/cold temperatures
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Horticulture, Landscape Management/Design or a related field or a combination of education/experience is preferred
- 7 years of related industry experience preferred; military experience may be substituted to meet position requirements
- Valid Texas Driver’s License with a clean record

Salary : $55,000 - $74,000
