U. S. Steel is seeking an Administrative Assistant III to provide high-level administrative, organizational, and operational support to the Minntac and Keetac mining operations. This role is critical to ensuring the effective coordination of leadership activities across a large, complex mining organization. The position requires exceptional organizational capability, professionalism, discretion, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment supporting approximately 2,000 employees across mine, plant, maintenance, and support functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the central coordination point between the General Manager and Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Safety, HR, Finance, and Supply Chain.
- Manage the General Manager’s calendar, ensuring alignment with operational priorities and proactively resolving scheduling conflicts.
- Coordinate all internal and external meetings, including staff meetings, leadership reviews, stakeholder engagements, and executive or regulatory visits.
- Prepare agendas, presentations, briefing materials, and memos, and ensure timely distribution of all meeting documentation.
- Capture meeting notes, decisions, and action items, maintaining accurate action logs to support accountability and follow‑through.
- Maintain organized records, files, and documentation, and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
- Screen and prioritize incoming communications to ensure timely information flow across leadership and departments.
- Plan and manage travel arrangements, site access, logistics, and event coordination for executive visits, leadership tours, and internal events.
- Support daily office operations, including supply management, onboarding coordination, and training logistics.
- Anticipate leadership needs by preparing cross‑department materials and identifying risks in scheduling or communication.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of administrative support experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
