Here's a Summary Of Responsibilities

The USOPC is looking for an exceptional candidateto join itsCompliance& Auditteam inthe position ofComplianceInvestigator.TheCompliance & Auditteam is responsible forensuringthat the organizations recognized by the USOPC asNational Governing Bodies (NGBs)meet their membership obligations as set forth in theTed Stevens Olympic and Amateur Sports Act, USOPC Bylaws, and other USOPC policies (collectively the Requirements) and for investigating and resolving other compliance matters.TheCompliance & Auditteam is also responsible for ensuring the USOPC complies with its own obligations in the Requirements and promotes a culture where USOPC team members feel they can report misconduct or other concerns without fear of retaliation.Theteamaccomplishes this goalby:1)diligently tracking and responding to reports of potentialUSOPC and NGBnon-compliance; 2)initiating and managing investigations intoalleged or suspected non-compliance; 3)supporting internal USOPC efforts to organize resources to aid NGBs in meeting their compliance obligations; and4)investigatingalleged USOPC non-compliance.

TheComplianceInvestigatorreports to theSeniorDirector,Integrity &Investigations(Sr. Director)andisresponsible for: 1)conducting and managing investigationsinitiated by the Compliance team; 2)implementingestablished complianceprocessesand procedures; 3)supportingtheSr. Directorindocumenting, monitoring,and prosecuting NGB non-compliance matters; and 4)resolving USOPC compliance matters.

This positionwill work across theUSOPCto coordinate investigations anddevelopand maintain consistentrecordkeeping and reporting processes. Significant internal stakeholders for this position includeLegal,Audit,Security &Athlete Safety,NGB Services, and theAthleteOmbudsOffice.

Here’s How You’ll Have An Impact

Investigations

  • Serve as point of contact for preliminary inquiriesand/orcomplaintsofnon-complianceby NGBs or the USOPC.In coordination with theSr. Investigator andSr. Director, determine if formal investigationand/or additional fact-gathering is needed to resolveaconcern.
  • Asneeded, investigateallegations of non-compliance with the Requirements by NGBs or the USOPC by developing and executing investigative plans, conducting witness interviews, and collecting and reviewing documents.
  • Write detailed investigative reports summarizing the results of investigations or reviews and analyzing compliance under the Requirements.
  • Provide clear summaries to affected parties, orally and in writing, of findings and conclusionsfrom USOPC-led investigations and reviews.
  • Ensure communication with the Sr. Director relative to significant investigative developments via regular briefings, oral presentations, and written reports.
  • At all times, exercisesoundjudgment regarding the resolution of complaints, including informal resolution and formal investigation.

Compliance

  • Based on review and investigations conducted, provide assessments concerning compliance deficiencies that may be addressed throughdelivery ofinternal or externalsupport.
  • Support theSr. Directoras needed in prosecuting NGBand othernon-compliance matters.

Other

  • Participate in organizational strategic and tactical planning as requested.
  • When appropriate, assist in the identification and review of potential personnel enhancements by participating in candidate interviews, conducting background research, and providing feedback to the Sr. Director and Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer.
  • Maintain confidentiality and use discretion and judgement in sharing and discussing information regardinginquiries,complaints, investigations, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by theSr. Directorand/or Chief Ethics &Compliance Officer.

Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:

  • Juris Doctor degree required
  • Preference for admissiontoColorado baror the ability to obtain membership in a reasonable amount of time
  • 1-3years oflegalexperience, preferablywith focusoncomplianceissues and internal investigations in a law firm, corporate, or government environment;practice of lawrelated to professional or amateur sportsis a plus
  • Experience in conducting investigations, including interviewing subjects and drafting investigation summaries/reports
  • Excellent interpersonal,communicationand collaborationskills
  • Excellent judgement in managing highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to interact well with individuals outside of the organization, at all levels and from all backgrounds
  • Skilled in writing concise, logical,andanalytical reports
  • Candidateswillbe asked to provide a writing sample as part of the interview process
  • Candidates will be asked to provide a Law School transcript
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and confidently make decisions in a high-intensity environment
  • Ability to work as part of a team toconduct investigationsin a neutral and sensitive manner
  • No impairment to independence with respect to NGBs or the USOPC
  • Passion for sport and the ideals of the Olympic & Paralympic Movement

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with NGBs and/or elite athlete organizations
  • Knowledge of complexities surrounding investigations within the sporting environment and/or experience working with athletes
  • Experience with conducting multiple party/complex investigations including interviewing skills, assessments,and recommendations
  • Possessskills in the areas of conflict resolution and problem-solving techniques
  • Familiarity with the operation of the USOPC and with U.S. sport organizations involved in Olympic, Paralympic, Pan American,and Parapan American movements
  • Knowledge of the Ted Stevens Olympic and Amateur Sports Act and USOPC Bylaws

Here's Some More Information You Need To Know

  • Hiring pay range $84,000 - $95,000 per year
  • This Full-Time, Exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week.
  • Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program, which has a 15% target. The USOPC may change or eliminate this program at any time at its sole discretion.
