• Thursday: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• Friday: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM

United Protective Services is seeking a Security Officer to join our team at a high-traffic outdoor retail property. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys staying active, working with the public, and taking responsibility for maintaining awareness of activity throughout a large commercial property.

The officer will spend most of the shift maintaining a visible presence, moving throughout assigned areas, assisting tenants and visitors, and identifying conditions that need attention. This is not a stationary post and requires an officer who is comfortable working outdoors and remaining engaged throughout the shift.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Maintain an active security presence throughout the property to help discourage unwanted activity
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled foot and vehicle patrols of the shopping center
• Regularly check parking areas, storefronts, walkways, service areas, and other assigned locations
• Maintain awareness of pedestrian and vehicle activity while patrolling the property
• Watch for suspicious behavior, unauthorized activity, loitering, vandalism, theft concerns, and other unusual situations
• Respond to calls for assistance, disturbances, alarms, and reported concerns
• Communicate professionally with the public while representing both United Protective Services and the property
• Identify conditions requiring Property Management's attention, including property damage, lighting outages, leaks, unsafe walking surfaces, and other maintenance concerns
• Document patrol activity and complete assigned electronic checkpoints throughout the shift
• Prepare clear and detailed reports regarding incidents, unusual activity, and significant property conditions
• Notify the appropriate supervisor or Property Management contact when an issue requires additional attention
• Maintain awareness of vendor and contractor activity when assigned
• Follow established property procedures and post orders
• Maintain proper control of site equipment, keys, access devices, phones, and radios
• Assist police, fire, EMS, and other emergency personnel when response to the property is required

• Ability to recognize and accurately report unusual or unsafe conditions
• Ability to work independently while following established procedures
• Good judgment and the ability to remain professional during difficult interactions
• Ability to write clear, accurate, and detailed security reports
• Basic ability to operate smartphones and electronic reporting applications
• Reliable transportation to and from work

Physical & Work Environment

This is an active outdoor security assignment. The officer must be able to:

• Walk and stand for extended periods throughout the shift
• Perform frequent patrols across a large outdoor retail property
• Work outside during changing weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain
• Perform duties requiring frequent movement and a high level of physical activity
• Remain visible, alert, and engaged throughout the assigned shift
