What are the responsibilities and job description for the Resident Assistant position at UNITED PRESBYTERIAN HOME?
This part-time position assists nursing facility nursing personnel in providing non-professional assistance under the direction and supervision of a professional nurse following established policies and procedures. Ensure that our resident’s have a pleasant, unhurried, comfortable dining experience. See that our resident’s that require assistance with meals receive the assistance they need in a timely manner at mealtime and during snack time. Available shifts include daily from 4p-8p and Saturdays and Sundays from 7a-1p.
FUNCTIONS:
- Set tables with table cloths, coffee cups, ice water, silverware. Provide clothing protectors to those who use them. Refill salt, salt substitute, sugar, sweetener, teabags and coffee in the resident dining rooms.
- Fill glasses with ice water for the resident dining rooms and pass out.
- Refills water pitchers in residents rooms.
- Assist residents in the dining rooms with meal set-up. Offer refills on coffee, hot water, milk etc. Open cartons, pour liquids into cups, butter bread, etc.
- Provide activities with residents as scheduled per Activity Director or Activity Assistant unless otherwise directed by charge nurse.
- Observes residents and notes physical condition, attitudes, reactions, etc., through interaction with resident’s in general public areas and reports unusual findings to Charge Nurse.
- Treat resident information as confidential material.
- Maintains appropriate interpersonal relationships.
- Participates in clerical and reception activities as directed.
- Answers Health Center phone calls as directed.
- Brings labs to the WCHC hospital lab as directed.
- Help pass personal clothes that come up from laundry.
- Passes out mail/newspapers to residents.
- Performs miscellaneous duties pertaining to medical records and environmental needs.
- Prefer 16 years of age or older, minimum of 14 years old.
- Integrity and ability to keep records confidential.
- Reliability and promptness of scheduled shifts.
- Accuracy and promptness in performance of duties.
- Ability to cooperate with other personnel.
- Ability to anticipate needs and moods of geriatric residents is helpful.
- Well-groomed, courteous, tactful, patient, kind and pleasant when dealing with residents, family, visitors, and staff.
