PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR – WEEKEND SHIFT
Job Title: Production Supervisor | Department: Manufacturing | Reports to: Production Manager | FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

As the Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading day-to-day machining operations while setting the technical standard for safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is highly experienced and motivated, combining hands-on machining with leadership, mentoring, and process optimization to ensure parts are produced on time, within tolerance, and at target cost. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a commitment to fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, program, and operate CNC lathes and mills - (2-axis & multi-axis lathes, multi-axis mills, and Swiss machines)
- Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, fixturing, probing, offsets, and cycle optimization
- Assign daily priorities and support production scheduling as directed by management
- Monitor and evaluate team member performance, providing regular feedback and addressing performance issues promptly
- Maintain accurate records of production metrics, including output, downtime, and waste, and prepare reports for management
- Train and mentor machinists on setups, best practices, and inspection methods
- Serve as the escalation point for machining, quality, or process issues
- Validate first-article inspections / ensure parts meet all quality requirements before releasing to inspection or downstream processes
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for scrap and rework
- Contribute to the optimization of cycle times and tooling life
- Coordinate with the Production Manager to ensure the availability of materials and the timely delivery of finished goods
- Enforce safety procedures, 5S, and shop standards, as well as compliance with company policies
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
What You Bring to United Precision Corporation:
Required
- 10 years of experience programming and setting up CNC lathes, mills, and Swiss machines
- Proven setup and troubleshooting capability
- Solid understanding of GD&T and print reading
- Experience with precision tolerances (±0.001" or tighter)
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working in a high-volume production environment
Preferred
- SAP Experience
- Experience with AS9100 and ISO9001
- Experience with ITAR Compliance
- Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing Principles Certification

Physical Requirements:

- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Must be able to occasionally move about inside a warehouse and office to access files, office/warehouse machinery, etc.

- Must be able to operate manufacturing and engineering machinery, including lapping machines, CNC lathes, and milling machines.
- Occasionally positions self to maintain manufacturing and engineering machinery, including under work stations.
- Frequently move raw and treated materials weighing up to 50 pounds across the warehouse for various purposes, as needed.
Working Conditions:
Work is generally performed in an office/warehouse environment, with frequent interruptions and irregular work schedules. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility, handling everyday objects and materials, and using office equipment is necessary to perform the job satisfactorily.
