Job Title: Quality Engineer | Department: Quality | Reports to: Quality Manager | FLSA Status: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:

The Quality Engineer is an integral member of a cross-functional team of Engineering, Production, and Sales personnel. This position requires a hands-on problem-solver to maintain a strong floor presence in an agile, high-growth manufacturing environment. The Quality Engineer will monitor and improve the quality of operational processes and outputs for several product families, ranging from complex assemblies to low-volume specialty products. You must be detail-oriented and claim stewardship of all pertinent quality functions. 3 years’ experience in the A&D Industry is required. A university degree and/or relevant ASQ certifications are a plus.

Qualifications:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of standard work initiatives company-wide.
  • Interface with customers and internal stakeholders to perform quality engineering reviews of design documentation and compliance requirements.
  • Communicate significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and recommend process improvements.
  • Monitor the success of products and processes from production ramp-up to steady-state.
  • Review and approve quality processes and code implementation into production.
  • Complete the certificate of conformance documentation necessary to ship products.
  • Train and direct inspectors as necessary.
  • Coordinate front-end and supplier corrective actions (e.g., NCRs, CARs, SCARs).
  • Perform internal quality audits.
  • Lead Corrective Action initiatives.
  • Launch and manage Quality Alerts.
  • Approve and support the onboarding of new suppliers and materials.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures and processes.
  • Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU BRING TO UPC:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy in all aspects of work.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
  • 3 or more years of relevant experience
  • 2 or more years of relevant manufacturing industry experience
  • Experience using inspection tools (dimensional, electrical, mechanical, and surface finish).
  • Experience interpreting Customer Quality flow-downs.
  • Experience using ERP and QMS systems.
  • Proficient with office software suites.
  • Possession of organized work habits and ability to prioritize multiple assignments.

Preferred

  • 4 or more years of quality inspection experience in manufacturing
  • SAP Experience or similar ERP
  • Experience with AS9100 and ISO9001
  • Aerospace and defense manufacturing experience
  • Experience with ITAR Compliance
  • Knowledge of LEAN and Six Sigma principles.
  • Experience interpreting Military Specifications, Drawings, and assemblies preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is generally performed in an office/warehouse environment, with frequent interruptions and irregular work schedules. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility, handling of everyday objects and materials, and use of office equipment is necessary to perform the job satisfactorily.

Salary : $66,000 - $87,000
