Position Overview
The Production Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading a specific production shift and ensuring that output, scrap, quality, safety, and training standards are achieved. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on driving results, developing operators, and building a strong shift culture.
You will own your shift’s performance and development.
Core Responsibilities
• Lead and supervise operators during assigned shift
• Ensure production output meets daily and weekly goals
• Monitor and reduce scrap including brite scrap and printed scrap
• Ensure orders are produced accurately including artwork layers, counts, and specifications
• Train new operators and continuously develop existing team members
• Create a culture of accountability and skill development
• Maintain training documentation and ensure cross-training across critical roles
• Track and report shift KPIs
• Escalate mechanical or quality issues quickly to minimize downtime
• Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures
• Enforce attendance standards and workplace accountability
• Conduct shift handoffs and communicate effectively with other supervisors
• Identify process inefficiencies and implement improvements
Shift KPIs
• Cans produced vs goal
• Scrap percentage brite and printed
• Order accuracy including misprints and layer errors
• On-time production performance
• Training completion and operator skill progression
• Safety and attendance
Qualifications
• 2 to 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience in high-speed production preferred
• Experience training or mentoring operators strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of production metrics and scrap reduction
• Ability to lead with firmness and fairness
• Comfortable using data to drive decisions
• Mechanical aptitude preferred
• Printing, packaging, or beverage manufacturing experience is a plus
