Job Title: Packaging Engineer
Location: Ohio (100% Onsite)
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Packaging Engineer to join our client’s Combination Product Operations team. This role supports global supply, new product introductions, and combination products by designing, qualifying, and implementing primary and secondary packaging solutions in a regulated pharmaceutical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement primary and secondary packaging components and systems
- Perform material selection, testing, and evaluation for packaging solutions
- Author and execute protocols and reports for packaging validation and qualification
- Create and maintain packaging specifications, drawings, and technical documentation
- Support line trials, packaging validation activities, and process improvements
- Troubleshoot packaging issues across production, warehouse, and incoming inspection
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Regulatory, and Engineering
- Ensure compliance with GMP, GDP, and applicable industry standards
Required Skills & Experience:
- 4–5 years of Packaging Engineering experience (3 years in Pharma/Biotech preferred)
- Strong hands-on experience with pharmaceutical packaging (primary & secondary)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Adobe Illustrator (required); SolidWorks is a plus
- Experience with distribution testing (ASTM D4169) and familiarity with ASTM, ISO, TAPPI, USP, and EP standards
- Solid understanding of packaging materials, systems, and validation processes
- Strong knowledge of GMP/GDP in regulated environments
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
