A leading Metals Recycling in the Northeast seeks an experienced Maintenance Professional to head the maintenance department of the facility. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the safety, reliability, and performance of all processing equipment and facility assets. This hands-on role supports ferrous and non-ferrous operations by minimizing downtime, managing preventive maintenance, and leading maintenance personnel across a scrap metal processing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead preventive and corrective maintenance for shears, balers, chopping lines, conveyors, cranes, forklifts, and yard equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues
- Develop and manage PM schedules, inspections, and maintenance records
- Supervise maintenance staff and contractors while enforcing OSHA and company safety standards
- Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts, and vendor relationships
- Support facility upkeep, regulatory compliance, and safety audits
- Drive continuous improvement to improve uptime, reliability, and operating costs
Qualifications
- 5 years metals recycling industry maintenance leadership experience
- Strong hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, conveyors, balers, shears, and mobile equipment
- Welding and fabrication experience preferred
- Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and industrial maintenance best practices
- Strong communication, planning, and troubleshooting skills
